When I opened the webshop, I only had children’s sewing patterns ready. You started asking right away when I would release women’s patterns too. So many of you also asked if I could make a women’s version of the children’s Tovi top. Of course I wanted to listen to your wishes, and that is how Edda was born. I’m honestly so glad I did, because Edda has become one of my own absolute favourites too!
To me, Edda is the perfect basic jersey top pattern. It is relaxed and comfortable, almost like a warm hug, but still flattering and shaped in just the right places. The Edda pattern includes both short and long sleeve options. The short sleeves have a lovely little detail: turned-up cuffs finished with bands.
Edda works beautifully in a basic cotton jersey with elastane, but also in other stretch knit fabrics. Viscose jersey and bamboo jersey are also great choices, and they give the top a softer, more drapey look. Edda also works wonderfully in Lycra, making it a lovely option for all kinds of movement and exercise. The short-sleeved top in the photos is sewn from Lycra.
Edda is really quick and easy to sew, and it would be a great choice even as a first sewing project. Although the pattern itself is simple, you can use it to sew so many different kinds of tops.
Edda has been my most popular pattern, even though it has been available for a much shorter time than my other patterns. I have received such lovely feedback about it, and it seems you have fallen in love with the style just as much as I have. That makes me so happy. I’m especially glad that the pattern has worked so beautifully for different bodies, sizes and shapes.
